Standard Hydraulic Cylinder Disassembly Bench | MSD-D
A sturdy 2” x 4” tubular frame
Full-length collector pan
Cylinder repair begins on the Hydraulic Cylinder Disassembly Bench. Selecting the right equipment is critical to the success and ease of operation.
MSD offers Standard, Heavy Duty, and Economy Hydraulic Cylinder Disassembly Benches, all of which can be customized.
The Standard Disassembly bench typically comes in 15, 20, 25 and 30-ft. lengths, but can be made to any size. It incorporates:
- An integrated power unit (15 or 30hp)
- A sturdy, 2″ x 4″ and 2″ X 10″ tubular frame
- A full-length collector pan
- A 30-gallon drain pan
- 2 slide plates
Collector Pan & 30-Gallon Drain Pan
The full length large volume collector pan helps keep your shop clean and promotes safety by eliminating oil spillage while disassembling components.
A 30-gallon drain pan, rolls out for easy disposal of waste oil. This tank is also used to capture oil from an overhung cylinder head during disassembly. The pan is rolled back after use thus eliminating a safety hazard and maintaining a clean and dry working area.
Slide Plates
Cylinders
Cylinders that have dented tubes or bent shafts can be pulled apart with the configuration shown. Brace tool ‘A” after being secured to a slide plate is pinned to make it stationary. Hydraulic cylinder “C” is positioned between the stationary plate “B” and a second brace tool “D” mounted on a sliding plate. When the cylinder is extended, a lineal force is generated to separate parts.
Tie-bolt cylinders can be secured to slide plates using pre-drilled holes and simple hold down tooling (MSD-HD). The slide plates insure a secure parallel surface for assembly and/or removal of tie bolt rods.

The Standard Disassembly Bench is made in 15, 20, 25 and 30-ft. lengths, but can be customized to any length.
Integrated Power Unit
15hp (11Kw), 3 phase power unit with control panel integrated into the disassembly bench. The power unit comes with a 40 gal. (151 lt) reservoir, 16 gpm (61 lpm) pump with a high-low unloading circuit developing 3,000 psi (207 bar), air purge system, pressure/torque gauge, and a three-spool valve. The power unit can test up to 3,000 psi (207 bar). Our 3-phase 15hp motor is rated to handle voltages ranging from 208V to 600V.
Single phase is available with a phase converter.
30hp (22Kw), 3 phase power unit with control panel integrated into the disassembly bench. The power unit comes with a 40 gal. (151 lt) reservoir, 30 gpm (120 lpm) pump with a high-low unloading circuit developing 3,000 psi (207 bar), air purge system, pressure/torque gauge and a three-spool valve. The power unit can test up to 3,000 psi (207 bar). 30hp motors are available from 208V to 600V.
Reservoirs
Optional 114, 150, 214 and 250-gallon reservoirs are available
Electric Valve Package
The electric valve is a four-button pendant that controls the Nut Busters extend/retract and the cylinder pull apart extend/retract.
Pressure Boost System | MSD-PBS
The pressure boost system is an air operated pump with pilot operated checks. The booster takes hydraulic oil from the system reservoir and will boost pressure to 5,000, 7,000 or 10,000 psi. The air pump requires approximately 100 to 150 psi of air pressure These boosters have a pressure relief valve that is set to limit the pressure that the booster can generate.
5,000 psi booster is mounted on the power unit control panel. There is an air valve mounted to the control panel with a red ball on the handle. While the pump and manifold are mounted to a steel plate located underneath near the hydraulic system.
7,000 & 10,000 psi pressure boost systems have their own control panels. This panel is mounted next to the power unit panel. This booster panel has a lever valve, two relief valves, two isolation valves, two gauges and an air valve.
Nut Buster®
Our Nut Buster ® hydraulic wrench can develop high torque at standard hydraulic pressures. Standard sizes of our “Nut Buster” develop 20, 30, 40, 50, 70 & 100,000 ft. lbs of torque. A simple and rugged system incorporates two (2) opposing cylinders working with a ratcheting mechanism. As the cylinders extend, they rotate the “tool holder” 60 deg. The cylinders retract and the cycle is repeated until the nut or head is completely removed.
The MS&D Torque fixture accepts a simple 8″ x 8″ square plate as tooling. The plate is placed in the 8′ x 8″ cavity on either end of the fixture. A 45′ turn of the tool captures the tool in place. A hex hole up to 6″ is made for the larger nuts. Various other whole shapes can be made to remove almost any type of nut, head, or glands on shafts or cylinder tubes.
